Lollapalooza 2024: Chicago’s Hottest Weekend

My first Lollapalooza (aka “Lolla”) was a success and one for the books! Festivals are always what you make of them and Lolla was no different. From day one through the entire weekend I had so much fun. I went with my group of friends, but we met so many new, friendly faces along the way.

The Crowd

Lolla isn’t your typical EDM crowd, it’s a diverse array of people with all types of styles and personalities. And everyone felt welcome to be who they are. If you stayed near the Perry’s stage you saw more of the EDM crowd and fashion, but venture out of that area and you get to experience all types of people. Lolla is also all ages and even had a stage called Kidzapalooza, dedicated to kid-friendly fun. I saw many families sharing core memories together and it was sweet to see. For example, I saw a father recording his daughter singing her heart out to Chappell Roan. And another family dancing together in the field by the T. Mobile stage. Lolla truly provided fun for everyone there!

The Venue

So many stages to conquer! I didn’t realize how big of a festival Lollapalooza was. The festival is huge and comfy walking shoes are must. Most of the festival was on concrete, but there were portions of the venue that were hilly, grassy, sandy, or had wood chips. I enjoyed the switch of terrain depending which stage you were at because it gave each stage its own unique vibe.

There was also a wide selection of food vendors to eat at and multiple bars to get a drink at too (outside of the 21+ lounge area).

The festival provided an eclectic mix of sponsor booths to check out such as the House of Dunkin, the Coke Studio, the 21+ Tito’s and Hennessy lounge, and much more. All of the booths were interactive experiences where attendees could go inside and get fun goodies. In the House of Dunking attendees could grab a coffee and get glammed up. Whereas, in the Coke Studio you could get refreshments and go roller skating! How cool is that?

The Music

Let’s talk about the lineup. This year’s lineup like previous years is always a nice collection of

various genres. As a EDM lover, I was happy to see so many of my favorites on this year’s lineup. For instance, it was my first time seeing Skrillex (I know… how?!) but I caught his second set at night and it was everything I hoped for and more. It was super cool seeing the Perry’s stage turn into the Sonny’s stage for that day. But there were other artists that I couldn’t believe I got to see in one weekend too, like Megan The Stallion, Zeds Dead, Blink 182, Loud Luxury, Stray Kids, Cannons, and many others. As you can see, the lineup was anything short of diverse and Lolla gave us quite the bang for our buck!

Conclusion

As a first timer at Lolla, I really enjoyed myself and everything the festival had to offer. Next time, I want to explore more of the grounds and the interactive sponsor booths. There was so much to do, in such a short period of time! Every day I saw something new. I had a blast and danced till my feet hurt. Thank you Lollapalooza for a weekend filled with a ton of laughter, great friendships, and amazing music. I can’t wait to be back!
