I recently had the pleasure of attending Big Dub Festival 2024 at the enchanting Four Quarters Farm in Artemas, PA, and I’m beyond excited to share the incredible experience with you. This unique camping festival, which took place from July 23rd to the 28th, was a whirlwind of music, creativity, and community. Here’s a recap of my unforgettable time at Big Dub and why you should join us next year!
Wednesday: Setting the Stage
Big Dub started on Tuesday but we arrived Wednesday, which still gave us plenty of time to enjoy all that Big Dub has to offer. As soon as I arrived on Wednesday, I was greeted by the calming, peaceful atmosphere of Hilltop camping in the beautiful mountains of Pennsylvania. We took this time to set up camp and get to know some of our amazing neighbors. Hearing our fellow festival-goers yell, “BIG DUBBB!” as they walked by charged up our spirits and made us even more excited for the weekend. The energy was palpable, with everyone buzzing about the lineup featuring artists like Levity, Dirt Monkey, HE$H, Level Up, Ravenscoon, and more. I quickly felt at home and embraced the festival’s welcoming community spirit.
Thursday: Lay of the Land, Embracing the Community, and Dressing Up
Thursday was all about immersing myself in the Big Dub community and getting a feel for the festival as it was my first time ever attending Big Dub. Main Camp was just a short shuttle ride away from Hilltop so getting to where the heart of Big Dub was and back was a breeze. Big Dub is not just about the music; it's about learning and connecting too. Wednesday was filled with engaging workshops such as meditation, yoga, poi, tarot, and many more that trickled into the rest of the weekend.
Thursday was the start of the themed dress-up days, and let me tell you, everyone went all out! This year, I went as Misa Amane from Death Note, joining the cosplay vibe of the day. Seeing everyone’s creativity on full display was astounding. The themed campsites and costumes added an extra layer of fun to the festival. We paraded around the festival grounds, taking in the sights and sounds while showcasing our costumes.
Friday: Catalina Wine Mixer and Performances
Friday brought the much-anticipated Catalina Wine Mixer. It was a refreshing break from the
high-energy performances, allowing us to enjoy some fine (bagged) wine in a laid-back setting. As a segue into the Catalina Wine Mixer, The Festival Babes held our meet-up right beforehand which turned up the anticipation as we met so many beautiful, fun, loving souls, ready to get the party started! As the evening unfolded, performances from artists like Dirt Monkey, HE$H, Level Up, Ravenscoon, Shlump, and The Widdler delivered unforgettable sets. The music was nothing short of phenomenal.
Saturday: Final Day & Farewell Fireworks
Saturday was our final chance to take in all that is Big Dub Festival. We took this time to explore the Theme Camps which included The Lucid Lounge, Camp Disco Circus, The Stoop, Scratch Camp, Go Piss Girl, Camp Flow with Us, The Illuminarium, Camp Pineapple, The Expanse and Sweat Camp. Each camp had its own unique vibe, from cool illuminating art to electrifying music and vibes to welcoming warm cuddle puddles to safe spaces for flowing, expression and healing workshops. The theme camps were a nice break from the dance floor as most people were starting to wind down for the end of the festival. The festival ended on a high note with a beautiful firework show. I couldn’t help but feel pure bliss and contentment laying in the dark woods on the cool grass with all the amazing people I met. It was a beautiful moment of connection and reflection as we expressed gratitude for the amazing time we had that was nearing the end. The sense of community and the friendships formed were truly the heart of Big Dub.
