Sound Haven Festival is well known for being a small, intimate festival in the south, and curating one of the best underground bass lineups in the country. We knew this going in, but nothing could have prepared us for the full experience of Sound Haven.
The Venue: Located at Jaceland in Tennessee, Sound Haven is tucked away on the back roads of the southern countryside. This remote location means a bit more freedom in terms of sound ordinances and spacing. The venue, while small, is perfectly spread between camping, 3 stages, and the perfect
amount of vendors. The festival staff set up tons of seating options for attendees, and put the UFO Stage (The main stage) at the bottom of a slight hill. We’ve been to hundreds of different festival venues, but one thing is for sure. Jaceland is an extremely special place with an innate energy.
The Community: The Sound Haven community is like none other. The festival is small, boasting roughly 5000 people. The couch culture is booming, with Moon Mats, Coochie Couches, and camping chairs sprinkled all over the venue for people to sit and enjoy the music. Everyone seems to know each other, and since the festival is so small, they’ll get to know each other if they didn’t already. Everybody shares, everybody helps, and everybody is kind. A community like this is hard to come by in this day and age, but Sound Haven curates this atmosphere effortlessly.
The Artists: There’s a reason this festival is known for having one of the best underground bass lineups in the country! Since a lot of these artists are more niche, it’s not uncommon for them to hop into the crowd, join in a workshop, or just attend the rest of the festival for fun. Apart from musicians, there’s also a booming art culture with live artists everywhere you turn, as well as vendors selling many different types of handmade crafts.
Our overall score on Sound Haven is an 11/10, and if you haven’t been then we suggest you go! We have a feeling we won’t ever find ourselves missing Sound Haven.
